Join us for a European tour of taste and sound. Six courses from six countries perfectly paired with six operatic vignettes.

Experience the glory of summer and the beautiful voice of the talented Sophia Mackey, joined by special guest, Tom Collver. Savour the tastes of Europe in the Hills of Bethany. It is an evening not to be missed.

Appetizer: Ham & Endive Gratin (Belgium), Roasted Tomato and Onion Bruschetta (Italy).

Second Course: Gazpacho- cold (Spain), Bread and butter board. 

Third Course: Pasta Puttanesca (Italy)

Fourth Course: Roast Pork with Black Currant Sauce ( Austrian), Roasted Potatoes Boulangere, Green Beans and Pine Nuts.  

Fifth Course: Salade Mixe with Chevre and Fines Herbes (France).

Dessert: Rote Gruetze (Germany)



Sophia Mackey

Sophia Mackey is a grade 12 Honours French Immersion student at I.E. Weldon, Secondary School in Lindsay, and is currently studying voice with Colleen Morrison at the RCM ARCT level. She is a seven-year provincial music festival finalist, where she most recently, placed 2 nd in both the Grade 10, and Open Musical Theatre OMFA Provincial categories in early June. Sophia’s other success’ from this past year include, placing 1 st and receiving the most promising young singer award at the Newmarket Voice Festival, placing 2 nd at the NATS regional finals, and winning the Founders Award at the Kiwanis Music Festival, for top solo musical performance at the festival in both 2015, and 2016. She has just been put forward to compete in the NATS national finals conference in Chicago this coming July. Sophia attended the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy, Academy program last summer and is a former member of the Canadian Children’s Opera Company where she performed in Toronto and across Europe. Sophia was also selected as one of ten high school students from across Canada and the United States to attend the Metropolitan Opera High School Intensive Program in New York City. Sophia is additionally an accomplished dancer, studying all genres, and just recently received her advanced 2 Ballet and Modern, studying with her mom, Alana Collver, Lindsay Storms and Heidi Vanderswet, and now has the opportunity to become an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. She is passionate about theatre and has performed in many productions such as Les Misérables, The Secret Garden, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver and most recently played Cinderella in Into the Woods. Sophia had a very difficult decision to make when choosing which school to attend next fall, but decided on U of T, where she will be studying Vocal Performance with Wendy Nielsen on a full tuition scholarship starting this coming September.
