Concrete Art Workshop with David Hickey

Meet artist David Hickey and make your own planter or garden sculpture out of cement.

Meet local artist David Hickey and create a work of art out of cement - a garden sculpture or planter. David is a full time artist and his work in paint, wood, metal and sculpture is inspired by the forms and beauty he observes in the natural environment. “Whether you are an experienced artist or a new beginner working with cement is fun, creative and full of surprises. I personally enjoy the organic free flowing medium of cement and the creative opportunities available.”

This course will focus on creating two works of art while fully exploring the fundamental hand building techniques that will allow you to enhance your skill level.  All the basics of working with cement will be addressed such as : different types and compositions; additives; safety; tools. As you create your own mushroom sculpture and birdbath you will decorate your sculpture with found organic materials and some that are provided. Completed works can be picked up the following week, or, if you are not able to return, modifications can be made to your project so you can take it with you the same day.
